Hygienists work on referral from a practising dentist, it is essential that you have visited a dentist for your annual examination and health screening within a year of your hygiene visit. If you have not had your annual examination, our practice reception will arrange an appointment with one or our dentists to coincide with your hygienist appointment. This ensures your full oral health needs are met.

An examination or health screening involves the dentist examining your teeth and mouth. Your teeth are examined for tooth decay, grinding, wear, occlusion (how the top and bottom teeth fit together) and plaque. The soft tissues of your mouth are examined for gum disease, periodontal disease and any abnormalities which may indicate cancer or other oral disease.
