Tax relief on dental expenses

Tax relief on dental benefits

You may have heard in the media that tax relief is available on dental expenses, well the truth is that it is and it isn’t!

Tax relief is available on very specific dental expenses and of course the catch is that they aren’t the everyday expenses, only the expensive ones. To quote the revenue “Note: Tax relief is not available for the cost of scaling, extraction and filling of teeth or the provision of artificial teeth or dentures.”

A full list of items which can be claimed can be found here.

In order to claim tax relief we will provide you with a completed Revenue Med 2 form, on receipt of payment. Then all you need to do is complete your med 1 form with all your medical expenses, including those on the Med 2 we have given you, for the full calendar year. Further instructions as to what to do next are on your med 1 form.
